Infrastructure planning at Helsinki Airport

Finavia has chosen Sito as the infrastructure planner of Helsinki Airport. Finavia is investing in major developments at the airport in the coming years, in preparation for increasing its transit traffic capacity.

The planning commission includes the draft phase planning of the apron, as required for the expansion of Terminal 2. Along with the expansion of the terminal, approximately ten aircraft stands for long-haul wide-bodied aircraft will be built on the apron. The first phase of construction is planned to start in 2016.

Increasing the transit traffic capacity is part of Finavias broader development program for 2014-2020. Under the program, the airport is getting ready to serve 20 million passengers in 2020. The current capacity is 15 million passengers.

Sito was involved in drafting the Master Plan for the development of Helsinki Airport in 2014. The ongoing development program follows the development outlined in the Master Plan.
